Day 13

Today, we discuss some issues. Legal Issues: copyright, fair use, piracy, free speech, acceptable use. They are very useful for me. I am a Chinese, I live in China, because of this background, our cultural different with Philippines. In China, we share software by each other, we download movies and songs from internet. They all are free, you just click download, and you can get everything. You do not need to go to cinema, you can watch any movies at home. But now, I learn different view in this class. We need to protect and respect authors’ results. As a teacher, we should teach student how to be critical thinking, not just ask them do, we should teach them learn how to think.

This morning, I get a lot of knowledge about internet. Nowadays, the internet becomes more and more important in our life. We all know that we can do lots of things by surfing the Internet. For example, some students often surf the Internet to find something good for their study, by surfing the Internet, they can learn a lot and make a great progress. When we are free, we often chat with our friends or family members. In the past, if we live very far from our friends or family members we can only write letters to each other, but now Internet can solve this problem, we can even talk or see each other on computers. Also, we can play games on weekends, they can help us relax. Of course we can also do many other things on computers. In one word, Internet is really important in our life now. So I am appreciate I could learn how to make website, it is very useful and helpful. Now, I am doing our group’s website, I also find we can get a lot of skills from internet.

Day 11

This morning, Grace’s worship was very wonderful. She told a story about her family. Through this story, we knew God’s love. When we met problems or difficulties, God always besides us, He always blesses us everywhere. Whose love could compare with our Gods’?

I learned a lot of knowledge from class. Everything looked new things for me. I was very exciting for studying. I felt this class was greatly important for me. I loved and enjoyed it. This was my first time for touching website language. Before I just knew how to design pages, but now I knew how to make website language. It was very useful. From now on, I can make a complete website. Let me try later!

Day 10

Feb 16
This is a good chance for training group cooperative. I like discuss by group. It can train how to listen your classmates’ idea, how to fits other person’s idea with yours. Although I have some experiences for making video, but I did not have chance to make an educational video. I think this is a challenge for me. And I love to share my thoughts to group mates. We work together, and enjoy our work. It is a wonderful experience, and greatly interesting. I find fun in this class.

Today’s class is very interesting. It makes me recall my college’s class. I feel greatly exciting. The sir teaches us clear and useful. We know how to make a video. First, we need to have a main point; second, we need to make a story board. It is very useful. If we did not have a story board, when we capture scenes which may make us confuse all scenes. So we should have a very clear story board in our brain. Third, we decide to who is going to play a role. Anyway, if we make a video by ourselves, we get fun of that.

Today, I learn more technology skills in the class. Although I am a designer, but I did not use Excel before. I just think it is easy to do it and not useful, but now I change my idea. I think it is very useful. Because we can use it in education for calculating scores by automatically. It also can use in the business.
• There are advantages in using Microsoft Excel as database. First and foremost, if you have the Microsoft Office in your PC, you don’t need anything else to be installed in your computer. You are good to go and can start with your programming straight away.
• Second, if you are a beginner, you can easily learn the Excel VBA Programming because you are half familiar with the programming platform that you are going to use, which is Excel.
• Third, you can start with small Excel database application and as the need grows especially on records that are getting huge, you can still use the same Excel application and upgrade your database platform from Excel to other high-end databases like Access, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.
• Fourth, Excel is capable of connecting directly to OLAP databases and can be integrated in Pivot Tables.
• Fifth, You don’t need to create a your own financial modules. Excel is rich in financial functions like Fixed Assets Depreciation, Amortization, etc.
• Sixth, Excel is portable. You can send it to someone through email.

It was a nice day. We talked about how to do presentation. I think the PowerPoint presentation tips were greatly useful. I would keep and follow it. The No.4: “For easy reading, use fonts that are at least 24 point”. The answer which is I always looking for. How much size of font was comfortable for watching? The No.6: “Avoid reading each slide. Slide content should provide a simplification of information that you explain in greater detail.” A lot of presenter had this problem which was reading too much. This was the reason why people did not like using PPT. When we used it, we would watch it always, and read it slide by slide. We did not realize that our audiences already had boring to listen it. We must avoid reading too much.

The second part, we tried to use GIMP. In fact, this was my first time for using it. Although, its function was almost same to PS, but they did different ways. So I also confused something. Some students who wanted to learn PS, you could see my blog-tech research, I would post some courses over there.

Day 6

Today is a big day. It is 11th graduate school forum. A lot of visitors came from different parts of the Philippines in the morning. I heard this is the biggest forum since the beginning of the AIIAS. There are more than 500 people participant this forum. This forum’s title is “abundant living: new perspectives”. The forum talked about health life. How to possess a healthy life? How to make some healthy diet? How to define the vegetarian? We should do more exercise, do not just sit. We should eat breakfast, because this is the most important meal of the day. It also discussed living the business professional lifestyle. Business professional often have indoor, sit-down, high stress jobs with limited exposure to fresh air or sunshine. The speaker suggests that a shortened life expectancy is an occupational hazard of a career in business, and that married professionals live longer. And the vegetarian is not only without meat, it means we should eat many different kinds of food. It is a wonderful day. I learn too much healthy knowledge from this forum.

Day 5 Moodle

It was a nice day. We talked about some useful software. The one is Moodle. Moodle: Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment is a free and open-source e-learning software platform, also known as a Course Management System, Learning Management System, or Virtual Learning Environment. Moodle is designed to help educators create online courses with a focus on interaction and collaborative construction of content. It is a global development project designed to support a social constructionist framework of education. I did not hear this software before. When I know about it, I think it is very useful. Especially, it can be used in the online learning. It also can use in the courses management. I need to explore it, how to be use in my future teaching life.

Day 4 Digital Technologies in the classroom

Today has a nice weather. The weather often influence people’s feeling, so today my feeling is very nice. I want to thank Eiji. His worship is great, even he didn’t use powerpoint. What is hope? When you will get hope time? Last time we talked about God’s blessing. Today we talked about hope. I think that hope from God. If we trust God, we will get hope every moment.

Today, we talked about many digital technologies. How to use camer, scaner, and projectors. Although, I have knew about these technologies, but not detail things. Today’s class, I learn more knowledge about those technologies. And I think pixels is very important. Many technologies will mention it. Such as camer, printer, scaner. It also will used in softwares. When we use the software, we should set  pixels first. Ex: If we want to make a new header image about our blog. First, we should check this header’s pixels. The pixels is 730*180 pixels. Second, we open Gimp and set pixels in the file. Third, we can make our own header image.
I like this class, and I’m very interest in our class.
